Whether you’re an individual traveller, a couple, or part of a small group, or a family with teenage kids, our tag-along experience brings together like-minded travellers from across the World. Our friendly, knowledgeable and experienced guides, who lead the squad in the white 4WD, will take great care of you throughout the trip. So if you’ve never driven on the sand before, don’t worry. Safety is very important to us, so we make sure you get to learn sand driving in a fun but safe environment.

So, what is a Tagalong Tour? This is where the lead 4WD is driven by our experienced and knowledgeable guide. The following 4WDs are driven by you guys, the customers that nominate to drive on the tour. You don’t need experience driving a 4WD, our thorough safety briefing and experienced guide will make sure you are ready for a once in a lifetime driving experience! Customers tell us it is the best thing they have done in Australia! You must be 21 or over to drive, but don’t worry if you are under 21, you can still come along as a passenger and experience the best 4WD adventure!

3 Day Tagalong Tour:

  • Walk under the rainforest at Pile Valley, the heart of Fraser Island
  • 4WD on 75 Mile Beach to Indian Head
  • Float in the sparkling waters at Champagne Pools
  • Swim, splash or take a tube ride at Eli Creek
  • Take photos at The Maheno Shipwreck and coloured sands
  • Adventure along 4WD tracks to the secret Lake Allom and swim with the turtles

itinerary--

SAMPLE ITINERARY:

DAY 1 After getting organised at Fraser Dingo HQ in the morning, we do a quick stop at the shops where you can purchase additional snacks, alcohol, coffee etc. At 9:30am we head to the barge, which leaves at 10:15am to arrive 30min later at Wangoolba Creek on beautiful Fraser Island! We 4WD across the Island & up 75 Mile Beach for a BBQ lunch, unpack gear & designate tents. After lunch, we visit (Eli Creek + Maheno Shipwreck + Pinnacles) or Lake Garrawongerra if it's high tide! We then return to the camp site around 4.30pm for an afternoon relax, drink, volley ball on the beach etc. Dinner is at 7:00pm, enjoy games, night walk etc after dinner. Quiet time from 10:30pm to be in great shape for DAY 2!

DAY 2 We start early with a sunrise walk (optional) before sharing a continental breakfast. Then depart for a beach drive to Indian Head + Champagne Pools, with a stop at Lake Allom on the way. Enjoy lunch at Cathedrals before returning to the camp site by about 4:30pm. Free time for an afternoon relax, drink, volley ball on the beach etc. Dinner is at 7:00pm, enjoy games, night walk etc after dinner. Quiet time from 10:30pm to be in great shape for DAY 2!

DAY 3 Start the day with a hot breakfast at about 7:00am, before heading to Lake Wabby, Central Station, Pile Valley and Lake Birrabeen. We have lunch at Eurong, then head back to Kingfisher Resort where we have snacks, afternoon drinks (not provided), walk or swim at the resort etc. The barge leaves the island at 5:00pm. We are back at Fraser Dingo HQ by 6:15pm-6:30pm to pick up vehicles or drop off back to pick up point. --itinerary

THINGS TO NOTE:

  • You will receive an information email 2 days before departure, this is how everything is organised for the tour. Make sure you answer it!
  • No off-road driving experience necessary, you will be briefed and shown the correct methods. There is no pressure to drive, you are more than welcome to be a passenger!
  • Drivers must be 21 years or over, with an open license (automatic transmission)
  • Driver safety briefing 7:30am the morning of departure (no pick-ups provided for this briefing)
  • Passengers need to be a minimum of 18 years of age (tour not appropriate for children)
  • Meeting at 8:30am if you are driving your own car to our office (free parking!) // Pick up from selected locations in Hervey Bay from 8:15am
  • Returns approx 6:15pm Sunday (accommodation drop offs available for free)
  • Trip itinerary can vary depending on weather and unforeseen circumstances i.e. access closures. Our guides reserve the right to make the best call for passenger's safety and comfort
  • You will be stopping by the shops at 09:00am the morning of departure if you wish to buy alcohol or snacks.
  • You can bring on the tour only a small backpack, there is not enough space in the vehicles to bring suitcases/travel backpacks! Luggage storage available for $20.
  • Basic Linen is included (Base sheet, pillow and pillow case). Bring your own sleeping bag or top sheet or hire one from us. Sleeping bag $10, Top sheet $5.
  • If less than two vehicles on the tour, the lead guide is the only person legally allowed to drive the vehicle.
  • Alternative accommodation is possibly used without notice.
  • Minimum numbers are required for the tour to depart.

WHAT TO BRING:

  • Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen
  • Re-usable water bottle
  • Little backpack with clothes for 2 days, toiletries, swimmers & towel
  • Sleeping bag and under-sheet essential (or hire a sleep tight pack for $15)
  • Bluetooth speaker, camera, phone charger
  • Alcohol and snacks if you wish

    I liked this trip a lot. I think i made friends for a lifetime and the scenery on the island is to die for. Driving was too much fun as well!
