FRASER ISLAND NEED TO KNOW
THINGS TO DO?
Fraser has 27 fresh water lakes to choose from and of course has many more charms to offer, including:
GETTING THERE?
Once you've got yourself to Hervey Bay or Rainbow Beach with Greyhound/ Premier bus or with your car, there are 3 ways in which you can explore Fraser Island. Hire your own 4X4, join a guided bus tour or our favourite, join a guided self drive 4wd tag a long tour.
ACCOMMODATION?
There are several options for where to stay on the island, including resorts and motels, however the most popular option is camping. No need to worry, if you're going with our recommendation and are joining a self-drive tag-along tour. All equipment is included and your guide is onsite. It’s the true Aussie adventure and the only way truly experience what Fraser has to offer.
OUR TOP TIPS?
Whichever option you're going for, you must book in advance as the better tours do get fully booked quickly, due to popular demand. The island is HUGE (120kms long) and with so many highlights you will need 3 days not to miss anything.
It is definitely worth spending 3 full days and 2 nights on the island.
ANYTHING ELSE?
You must be 21+ with a valid driving license to drive on the island. You're under 21? Good news - you can still experience the tour, kick back, relax, be the DJ or have a beer!
Unsure on travel dates? No worries, you can book it open dated. You just need to give the tour operator a call, once you decide when to go.
As buying groceries on the island is very limited, we recommend you to get any snacks/ beers for the way on the mainland, before departing to Fraser Island.
