BEACHES: There are more than 100 picturesque beaches in Sydney that you can visit. Whether you are a fan of waves, or like to have an easy swim in the harbour - Sydney's got it all. You can surf, swim, or just enjoy the beach. Different beaches offer different activities - don't miss out on the famous Bondi to Coogee walk or even take a dip in the oh-so-grammable Bondi Icebergs Rockpool. Stand up paddle-board trips at the popular Manly beach are also something you should check out.
CITY: Visit the two beautiful harbour-side landmarks - the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. An iconic must-do in Sydney is taking the ferry from Circular Quay to Manly Beach. Be sure to visit Manly during day time so you can enjoy the beach. A short walk away from Manly beach lies Shelly Beach, where you can enjoy a snorkelling session.
Make sure to visit Chinatown's Friday night market to indulge in some amazing Asian cuisines. Sydney is known for its multi-cultured food scenes so if you are a foodie then it is a must. If you are visiting Chinatown during the day, why not pay the Chinese Garden of Friendship a visit. It is situated between Chinatown and Darling Harbour. From there, you can take a nice long stroll to Darling Harbour, and if you have time, make sure you give The Rocks a visit.
There are several events happening throughout the year in Sydney, including the light festival, Vivid. So be sure to keep an eye out while you are in Sydney. If you are into nightlife, be sure to visit some of Sydney's famous pubs and bars like the Opera Bar, which is in the Sydney Opera House.
NATURE: One of the best ways to unwind and escape the city's bustling lifestyle is to go and explore the Blue Mountains. With just a 2 hour train ride from Sydney's CBD you'll find yourself in the world famous Blue Mountains, with all its attractions, such as bushwalks & hikes, scenic look-outs and even a scenic railway. Other must-do attractions around Sydney include taking a wine tasting tour in Hunter Valley or visiting Port Stephens with its beautiful beaches, stunning sand dunes, pristine national parks and while you're at it, don't forget to pay a visit to their friendly locals, the bottlenose dolphins.
GETTING THERE?
You may even be flying into Sydney for your very first destination in Australia. If so, why not spend some time there? It is one of the best places to start your journey. As mentioned, flying to Sydney is one of the transport options out there. However, there are more options available if you are coming from other places in Australia.

If you have your own vehicle check in advance that it isn't a public holiday because the traffic may be busy. Sydney's roads are usually easy to navigate, but make sure you plan your route before getting here. Please keep in mind that there are toll roads around and you will be charged toll fees if you use them. If you do choose to use them - remember to pay the fee. Many campervan companies will offer you toll pass with a flat rate.
ACCOMMODATION?
There are several ways to stay in Sydney, depending on your needs and wants. Whether you are looking to stay in a boutique hotel, or looking for a party-friendly hostel - Sydney offers it all.
HOSTELS: here are plenty of hostels to choose from in Sydney but be aware you need to book in advance during busy periods, the same goes for the campsites if that is what you fancy. Maze, YHA and Wake Up are some of the top rated Sydney hostels.
HOTELS: There is an abundance of hotels to choose from in Sydney with different budget ranges. If you are here to spoil yourself a little, check out the iconic Park Hyatt in The Rocks.
CAMPING AND CAMPERVAN: Sydney city itself is not camping/campervan-friendly, however, if you check out camping sites outside of the main hub, you should be able to locate a few. Just remember that when visiting Sydney with an intention to camp, that you are doing so in a camp-friendly area such as a caravan park, as it is mostly illegal to camp around Sydney.
