  3. Hunter Valley
  4. Jervis Bay
  5. Jenolan Caves

Fun fact: Blue Mountains is actually a part of Sydney. However, it does take around 2 hours to get there from Sydney CBD. On offer is dramatic forest sceneries with mountainous backdrops, it's a magical place with an abundance of natural beauty. Waterfalls, eucalyptus tree forest, steep cliffs, adorable small villages, and many more can be seen during your visit. For nature lovers out there - this destination is a must! Of course, one of the most Instagrammable locations in the Blue Mountains is the iconic Three Sisters (the unusual rock formation) which is a must-visit stop. Day trips to the Blue Mountains run everyday, with various pick up locations scattered all around Sydney. These trips are a great way to see the best spots in the Blue Mountains.

3) Hunter Valley

A glass of wine? WINE NOT! If you love your vino, you will know that Australia is a wine obsessed country. Famously known for its many, yet varied, wine producing regions, Australia is said to be one of the best producers in the world. Different regions have their own grape specialties - Whether it is the Yarra Valley (Melbourne), Barossa Valley (Adelaide), and many more, the little underdog that we often overlook is the Hunter Valley region.

About 3 hours up North from Sydney lies the wine region of Hunter Valley, it is truly a gem. Known for producing Semillon and Shiraz. However, there are many other wine varieties for you to taste. When you visit the Hunter, there are almost too many vineyards to choose from. However, guided day trips are usually the best option for you if you do not know which are the best to visit. They are a a great way to explore the wineries as they will take you to their most recommended vineyards and get you to try Hunter Valley’s best. A big plus is that you won’t be needing to drive! Sip on wine to your heart's content - but of course, do so responsibly (or at least try to).

4) Jervis Bay

Do you want to see one of Australia’s whitest sand beaches? Look no further than Jervis Bay. Escape the city for the day, and go visit this south coast village, it is nothing but dreamy. An activity that is a must-do while in Jervis Bay is Dolphin watching. These intelligent aquatic mammals are there to melt your hearts. If you are interested in taking a day trip to Jervis Bay, you will get a chance to see these beautiful animals and feel the beautiful white sand between your toes all on the same day!

5) Jenolan Caves

Something different? What about visiting spectacular limestone caves, within the Jenolan Karst Conservation Reserve in the Central Tablelands region just west of the Blue Mountains. This is definitely one of the most unique destinations where you can go for a day from Sydney. The caves are regarded as Australia’s most outstanding cave system. Said to be roughly 340 million years old, you can take a day trip to the Jenolan Caves, guided trips include national park entry fees and a specialised tour guide that will take you on a fantastic journey through the caves.

6) Canberra

Australia’s capital city, see where Australia's politics happen! Sometimes it is easy to forget Canberra - but that does not mean it is not a worthy location to visit! Only a short drive away from Sydney, Australia's capital resides in its own territory of ACT (Australian Capital Territory).  Surrounded by the state of NSW, Canberra can be done by taking a day trip that leaves from Sydney and you will be sure to see all of the landmarks of the Aussie capital. Snap a few photos and share it with your family and friends while you are there! Keep an eye out and you might even find the prime minister!
